WALKER WINS, KAYMER COLLAPSES

Honolulu – Jimmy Walker turned in an impressive nine shot win at the Sony Open on Sunday repeating as champion of the event.  In doing so, Walker has the most wins on the PGA tour since the 2013-14 season began winning 4 of 32 starts.  He managed to right the ship after a collapse at the Hyundai last week to Patrick Reed and pick up the $1,008,000 first place cheque.  By the time you tuned into the Golf Channel’s coverage of the event it was already over making it an uneventful finish, unlike the collapse of Martin Kaymer earlier in the day.

“I really wanted to finish out the day today, like I didn’t do last week.” – Walker

Abu Dhabi – Meanwhile over in Abu Dhabi at the HSBC Championship, Martin Kaymer was putting up another US Open style beating on the field.  At one point, Kaymer held a 10 shot lead.  That runaway victory soon evaporated as he gave away six shots in eight holes to give Gary Stal the victory.  The stage was set for Kaymer needing an eagle on 18 to force a playoff but his poor play continued and he was only able to salvage par.

“It’s difficult right after the round to say how I feel. It was definitely a very interesting day and one I need to reflect on.”       – Kaymer
