There have been many players this season that you would call consistent. Consistent would be having a few Top 10’s going into the TPC at Sawgrass. Matt Kuchar however is more than just consistent, he is red hot. He has finished in the Top 10 in 8 of his last 11 events played. Add to that, he has a 4th, 2nd, 5th and 1st place finish in his last 4 events. Although I begged people not to take him in their Masters pool citing he was too close to the sun, I am changing my stance on Matt for this week’s event.
The TPC at Sawgrass does not require someone of monster like length with the driver. This course demands precision and placement of the golf ball and Matt has shown to rule the tour when it comes to placing the ball in the right places.
With some of the greens looking like your local muni, the winner will need to be level headed and deal with the bad breaks that a good putt may give you. Matt has dealt with bad breaks all year so he has the short term memory to not let this issue bother him.
Finally, Matt has the right make up to become a repeat champion looking to win a second players championship in just two years.
