In the movie The Number 23 with Jim Carrey, the main character drives himself crazy over the number 23.  PGA Tour golfers with the lead going into Sunday might start to have a similar fascination with the number 54.  Ryan Moore held the 54 hole lead at the Valspar this past weekend but fell victim to the 2015 curse of the 54 hole lead.  Even more strange was going into Sunday Moore had converted half (3 for 6) of his previous 54-hole lead on Tour.  Check out these notes on the 54 hole leaders this season and ponder if we are on to something or if we are nuts!

• A 54-hole leader or co-leader has not won on the PGA Tour over the last eight events.

• The last ten 54-hole leaders or co-leaders including Moore failed to break par in final round

• The last 54-hole leader to win was Bill Haas, who was tied for the lead after three rounds at the Humana Challenge.

• Only two of the previous seven Valspar winners held or shared the 54-hole lead (Kevin Streelman and Jim Furyk).
